Shalini MisraThe property is a 3,600 sq. ft red brick Victorian family home spread over three floors including four bedrooms and three reception rooms. Shalini Misra Ltd designed this property by adding an extension that houses an additional living room space allowing the ground floor to function as a grand entertainment space when needed. By adding sliding doors to the existing family room Shalini opened up the entire rear part of the house to the garden with natural light flooding in through the doors. The house boasts of a palette with textured earthy tones and accents of blue resulting in a luxurious eclectic interior design scheme bearing in mind the client’s own aesthetic.
Lexington Avenue
The aim was to design an interior that was a familiar and warm space, where serenity and calm would be provided after a hectic day in the city while still mirroring the excitement of the bustling city in which it is located. One of the ways in which this was achieved was by combining pieces by local New York designers and studios with pieces from international designers as well as a mixture of vintage and contemporary sleek designs.
South Audley Street Mayfair
Located on one of London’s most prestigious streets in the heart of Mayfair, this spacious three-bedroom apartment is a celebration of Shalini’s vision and distinctive approach to interior design. Enriched with original Victorian features, including cornices and fireplaces, we retained the character and history of the property, while adding contemporary finishes, such as automation, air conditioning, and underfloor heating. This luxury interior design-styled project was developed by our talented in-house team to go on the market, so fixtures and fittings were vital. For the flooring we chose a striking monochrome marble design in the entrance, bathrooms, and kitchens, complemented by rich, dark solid oak in a chevron pattern. Luxe wallcoverings were selected to add depth and texture to space and the joinery was designed to exacting standards.
Decorex Champagne Bar
Inspired by the Great Exhibition of 1851, the Champagne Bar at the exhibition space at Decorex embraced the best Victorian design with sumptuous fabrics, opulent finishes, and historic detailing. Throughout the design process, Shalini Misra referenced original drawings, paintings, and advertisements as inspiration and reimagined key elements with a contemporary twist. One such feature is the dramatic central canopy that took center stage in the original exhibition. The Bar featured a similar plush canopy in red – to celebrate the show’s ruby anniversary – with bespoke gold bullion fringing from Samuel & Sons.
Eaton Place Belgravia
A home away from home, this beautifully designed Grade II listed apartment in Belgravia, London, features an extraordinary neo-classical façade and casual-luxe aesthetic. Designed to be a pied-a-terre for a family of four based primarily in the US, the interior was completely reconfigured to create a flowing space with three en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen, a family room, study, and spacious entertaining area. We preserved and restored the beautiful period features, such as ornate plasterwork cornices and ceiling roses, and enhanced the apartment’s high ceilings with stunning chandeliers. Mood lighting was layered throughout to create warmth and depth while highlighting the family’s art and object collection.

Chakra Restaurant Kensington
Inspiration for the design came directly from the restaurant’s name, which refers to the seven centers of spiritual power in the human body. Shalini Misra and her team paid particular attention to the second Chakra, ‘Svadhishthana’ when creating the interiors. This Chakra means “one’s own abode” and is associated with the element of water as well as the unconscious, emotion, and the act of taste.
Jubilee Place, Chelsea
Jubilee Place, a Victorian house with a mock Tudor frontage, sits on a peaceful idyllic street in a conservation area off London’s busy King’s Road in Chelsea. This style of facade, which can be spotted all over England, does not hint at the surprise of the interior behind its front door and windows. The client, a family of four, needed an entire remodeling of the space to create a more contemporary way of living. Today, this means a fluid layout with a feeling of space that is versatile in order to adapt it into pockets of private space for concentration and calm, larger bedrooms and bathrooms, a study, a kitchen with ample storage, and a room to hide the guts of all modern amenities into.

Our client’s vision for their home included an open plan ground floor for the reception and dining with floor and wall space for art and sculptures, and space to entertain; a new basement for the family area, kitchen, powder room, and utility with sliding doors separating the kitchen and utility; an outdoor area at the back accessed from the basement; a terrace accessed from the first floor looking down to the basement courtyard; three spacious bedrooms with ample storage; and a central staircase connecting all floors as an architectural feature and the design core of the house. The brief for the feel was luxurious and comfortable with the art, sculpture, and furniture to sit seamlessly together, melding into family life.
Farmhouse India
This 25,000 sq ft family retreat residing in a suburban area south of Delhi, explores the intersection between the indoor and outdoor space through a visionary architectural and interior design approach. The development of the land it is set in was key to the design of this project. The home, set over two acres of land, was created in collaboration with landscape designers J2 with the intention to bring the family together in a peaceful space, surrounded by nature and incorporating elements of Vaastu. The home was envisioned to appear as if it was emerging from the landscape, ensuring the surrounding greenery could be experienced from all areas of the home. It was a concept that we also used throughout the interior space while showcasing locally sourced craft and materials.
St. John’s Wood Residence
Bold architecture, British craft, and interior design come together in Shalini Misra’s north London residence in St. John’s Wood. The dining area is large to accommodate an extended table and it flows into two seating areas. A vintage chandelier above the dining table is a nod to vintage craft. The marble flooring is custom-designed by Shalini Misra Ltd. The curve of the main staircase is enhanced with an ombre-toned runner with tones picked up in the photograph on the wall. The white-painted inside of the balustrade contrasts beautifully with the custom walnut-painted exterior of the balustrade. The staircase was treated as a grand architectural element of the house, providing a striking feature as you enter the entrance and as you walk up and down through the levels. Flooring in the lower ground floor seating area shows the flooring detail next to a metal decorative grille custom design by Shalini Misra Ltd.
Gilston Road Chelsea
Designed and restored by Shalini Misra this detached 1850s property is spread over five floors in the conservation area of The Boltons in Chelsea, London. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden on three sides with three light wells dropping down to courtyards in the basement. The house aesthetically displays a range of styles, rich in architectural detail externally, with a recognizable Italian-villa design featuring a pyramid-roofed tower at the front of the property. A 4,500 square foot new basement was built which did not alter the external appearance of the house. The basement includes a swimming pool, gym, media room, and three bedrooms. The total square footage of the house is over 9,500 square feet.
