Sammode Reissues Series of Ephocal Lighting Designs by Pierre Guariche ⇒ The industrial designer’s pieces got a contemporary spin courtesy of the French design brand

Last year, the lighting experts Sammode reissued a collection of lighting designs from the ’50s which were designed by the pioneering industrial designer, Pierre Guariche, who was best known for his ingenious approach to design. In this article, we will take a look at some of the renovated pieces that include luxury standing lamps, wall lamps, and pendants, among others.

Sammode produced these designs by introducing contemporary components and technologies. All designs are best characterized by rational forms and clever mechanical details, for example, cantilevers and counterweights.

In order to guarantee comfortable lighting, the renowned brand also opted to use metal as the main material, completely transforming it so the designs will get sculptural forms. One of the most iconic designs of this collection is the G30 standing lamp, comprised of a white-lacquered perforated steel shade and has a nautical touch to it.

On the one hand, the G3 wall lamp highlights a perforated metal grille and a metal surface that is folded into an angular shape. On the other hand, the G25 wall lamp has an adjustable brass arm with an architectural metal reflector at its end. Nevertheless, both designs provide soft and diffused lighting.

Lastly, the G13 ceiling lamps have a circular form with an exterior perforated metal surface. Thanks to its glass Fresnel lens, these lighting designs cast a diffused glow, perfect for contemporary entryways or corridors.
