Unveiling The Lighting Secrets Of Vanessa Hudgens
Located in Los Feliz, this Georgian colonial house caught Vanessa’s attention due to the natural elements that surrounded the building, like the ivy on the walls or the olive trees that reminded her of France and Italy. Built by Cecile B. DeMille in 1922, the house greets its guests with a lantern-like lighting fixture that hangs on the porch, above the front door. It is a suspension with a rustic style that fits the aesthetic of the house and the owner’s personal taste.
Before Vanessa Hudgens acquired the house, it belonged to famous British actor, Gary Oldman. For the actress, it was important to get a home that was old and had its own character. Old Hollywood elements and Art Deco influences can be seen throughout different rooms, and the fixture seen in the dining area is an example of this 1920s influence.

The starting idea for the living room was a monochromatic theme but it was quickly scratched when the actress found the vintage pink mohair sofa that now decorates the space. The colour scheme changed to a more feminine one, with wooden elements and two beautiful green armchairs.
The kitchen was renovated by Vanessa herself. The cabinets were painted, new marble was added and the knobs and drawer pulls were replaced by new ones made of brass.
The same room includes an eating corner, decorated with a beautiful, floral, House of Hackney wallpaper. The 1950s pendant light from Germany adds a mid-century touch to the space inspired by the restaurant Maison Premiere.
The master suite was remodeled by interior designer Jake Arnold and includes small details like vases and florals that, initially, were not something the actress had decided to include. The room includes pieces from Vanessa’s favourite vintage shops that give some individualism to it, such as the lantern-like brass wall lamps.
The bathroom has a cave-like aesthetic, with dark tones and a beautiful egg-shaped bathtub. The washbasin features a timeless design, with marble tops that contrast with the darkness of the walls and the cabinets. The wall lamps add a pop of colour, bringing the old Hollywood atmosphere to the room.

The outdoor area offers the same feminine mystique and flair that we saw in the living room but still maintains its own personality. Artist Carly Kuhn, known as the Cartorialist, was the one behind the mural of faces that was painted on the wall that surrounds the pool area. The patio includes an al fresco dining space perfect to host dinners with friends.
